Osun 2014 Governorship Elections: Ile-Ife is for Aregbesola!
I want to express our profound gratitude to Almighty God for the successful launch and official declaration of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the State of Osun gubernatorial campaign in the city of Ile-Ife.
We also appreciate His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, Ife Obas and Chiefs, the good people of Ile-Ife and my respectable people of the State of Osun for their overwhelming support during the said flag-off for Ogbeni Aregbesola’s second term in the saddle of governance in the State of Osun. No doubt, the choice of Ile-Ife as the campaign flag-off point for the August 9, 2014 governorship election APC candidate is a reflection of the enormous respect we have for his Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, respect for the people of Ifeland and the Yoruba race.
The Governor has not only began at the cradle, he chose the respectable man of valour “Oranmiyan” as his mentor and symbol in his drive to restore the dignity of the Yoruba Race. True to his identity and promise to the people during his 2007 campaign, Ogbeni has done tremendously well for the people of Ile-Ife and the people of the State of Osun as a whole. In his effort to banished hunger, poverty and unemployment, the Governor has ensured that Osun has the least percentage of unemployment and scored highest in the area of poverty alleviation; he is restoring healthy living; promoting functional education; and enhancing communal peace and progress in the last three and half years as Governor of the State.
Without any doubt, Ogbeni Aregbesola is a true Omoluabi with high value for fidelity, no doubt he will keep his words and honour his pact with the people again. The APC as a party of the progressives is people-oriented in outlook and will never deviate from the glorious and noble path of our heroes like the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Recounting the developmental projects of the Governor in detailed specificity is almost impossible: roads, schools, health facilities, improved agricultural production, the O’Meal free lunch for school children and the O’yes massive youth employment scheme, etc.
I profoundly thank my good people of Ile-Ife for resisting intimidations and unfounded sentimental overtures by coming out in hundreds of thousands to support Ogbeni Aregbesola. By so doing, we chose not to occupy a dark and obscure spot in this legacy sustaining agenda. It is therefore imperative that we transform the massive support given to Ogbeni Aregbesola to votes come the August 9, 2014. We should stand firm, vote and guard our votes against the mandate riggers. For us in Ile-Ife, it is about good governance and service to the people. As a people, we appreciate the efforts of Ogbeni Aregbesola and the APC to fast-track the long elusive economic and infrastructural development, improve the standard of living of the people and actualise other directly impactful projects for the state. There is no going back. We have long left ‘’Egypt’’ - the era of empty promises and we approaching the Promised Land.
